General Facts about fabric qualities and shade variations:
We will do our utmost to ensure all fabric products that we supply correspond as closely as possible to the fabric samples/swatches received, but we cannot guarantee exact matches.
Slight variations in fabric shade can occur between one batch and another. Fabric swatches are intended as a representation of the fabric only. If you buy fabric with the same design as another room this should be purchased on the same order to ensure exact colour match.
- 100% design straightness across the width of the fabric cannot be guaranteed due to the nature of textile manufacture but it will not deviate by more than 2%. This is standard.
- Certain fabrics have weft threads carried across the reverse of the cloth. This may cause a ‘striped’ effect when the curtains are hung. This is in no way a fault but is an inherent characteristic.
- Fabric which is 100% silk is hand woven using natural silk yarns which produce a unique textured fabric. Shading, uneven construction and slubs are characteristic due to the irregular nature of natural silk yarn and are not considered as flaws and defects.
- Linen Blends – linen fabric has a natural tendency to crease which is a recognisable attribute and enhances it’s textural character.
- Fabric which contains chenille threads can have irregular textures across the fabric. This is because chenille by it’s nature has a propensity to have irregular thickness. This characteristic is within the nature of the fabric and is not a defect.
- Faux silk and taffeta fabrics are prone to visible reed lines along the length. This is a natural occurrence due to the method of manufacture and is not considered to be a defect.
- Velvets – are a pile fabric often used in designer fabric ranges. As a pile fabric, when rubbed, it can create an irregular distortion of the pile. Smooth the pile in the same direction if irregularities are apparent this will give a finished look.
