Energy payments can be slashed if you buy curtains or close the ones you have. Research carried out by the Energy Saving Trust has shown that households can make big savings by making simple changes.

One of the simplest suggestions they made was to close curtains after dusk or to buy curtains for windows. Closing curtains will prevent heat from escaping through the window.

The Trust also recommended identifying whether there are draughts around windows and doors. It’s possible to purchase draught excluder packs which fill the gaps around windows and doors, stopping heat from escaping.
