Declutter and Add Vibrant Colours

Most interior design starts with decluttering and this seems particularly appropriate and the start of a new year. Once you have cleared away all of the unnecessary items you have collected throughout the last year, you will have created a blank canvas with which to start.

Fabric, including curtains, throws and cushion covers can all help to create a chosen "look". Before you buy fabric have a good look at what's on offer, there's a vast choice out there.

Consider the rest of the decor in your room before making you selection - if your walls a plain you could decide on a multi coloured more vibrant fabric than you would if you already have a fancy wall paper.

As well as buying fabric for accent your room you may decide to buy curtains. Again these can be bought ready made or you may decide to express more individualism and opt for made to measure curtains.

Which ever option you choose make sure that the colours coordinate with one and other and create harmony in your room.

Myleene Klass Launches New Curtain Range

They may not be everyone's first choice when they come to buy curtains but Myleene Klass has just launched a range of curtains. Previously, in the band Hear'Say, the classical musician is now turning her hand to interior design.

The range was inspired by her recent experience in which she waved a knife at a prowling peeping tom. One of the curtain designs in the range features a naked image of Myleene on the interior side whilst the outside features her welding a knife.

Whilst the range will undoubtedly be popular, and reports suggest that it has already pulled in a many customers to otherwise quiet curtain shops, most people will prefer to express their individualism with a more conventional, but unique, pair of made to measure curtains.

Update Your Home in 2010

At this time of year magazines are full of ideas of how to spruce up and update your home for the new year...and it's almost time for a spring cleaning overhaul too. So what can you do:

If you have plenty of money to throw at the problem you could employ a professional interior designer. But for most of us a few simple things can make a huge difference.

You could give your home a lick of paint. This is a quick, easy and inexpensive way to make a dramatic difference quickly.

Look around your home and think about repositioning items - moving something from the bedroom into the sitting room can make a big difference without you having to spend a penny. Similarly, moving furniture around within a room can give everything a new lease of life.

Think about accessories like lamps and rugs. For example adding a dimmer switch or changing a light shade can make all the difference softening harsh light. A lamp positioned in the corner can completely change the atmosphere of a room. A piece of art work hung strategically above the fireplace will add character and individualism.

Add a fresh, clean feel by investing in a pair of made to measure curtains. Doing away with dingy dark window dressings and adding a new set will open up a room and let light in when open and create a cosy atmosphere when drawn.

You don't have to spend a lot to give your home a complete make-over. So why not have a go and reguevinate your home in 2010.
