Buy Curtains to Add Height or Width

Recently we addressed the issue of how to hang curtains for different types of window. Read the latest Home Interiors 4U blogs to understand how your choice of curtains can affect the overall impression of a room, making it appear larger or smaller, adding warmth or accentuate the best features of your windows.

Make narrow walls appear wider

The width of your window will largely determine the type of curtains you need. On a narrow wall in a room, it is beneficial to accentuate the width of the window to make the room appear wider. This can be achieved with shorter curtains (by limiting the height of the curtain to the window ledge.) A full width pole that allows drawn back curtains to lie fully against the wall will make the window appear wider. Buy curtains with horizontal stripes or a horizontal pattern to further accentuate the width of the room.

Make low ceiling rooms appear taller

Buy curtains to create the impression of height. This can be created simply when you hang the curtain pole or rail well above the window and allow the curtains to reach the floor. Much longer curtains will be needed and the length will create the impression of height in a room. A deep pelmet in the same material as the curtains will add to the effect of grandeur.

The Home Interiors 4U blog will feature further tips and advice for when you buy curtains for your room.
